There are tons of reasons to get married in any season. No one season is better than another, but if you’re thinking about a spring wedding, let’s talk about why you should get married in the winter!
As a wedding photographer I see lots of weddings and how the seasons affect each one. I also notice the pros and cons to getting married in every season. These are things you may not consider, and my intention is to help you decide which season is best for you to say “I do!”
FIRST LET’S TALK ABOUT THE PROS AND WHY YOU SHOULD GET MARRIED IN THE SPRING!
Everything feels so alive after winter is over!
It’s no secret that spring feels amazing after a cold winter. Spring is so romantic and the perfect time to get married. There are so many options for what your wedding day can look like with a spring wedding too!
Wild flowers and trees are blooming!
You probably have to decorate less because you can incorporate wild flowers and blooming trees in your photos and decor.
The sun is starting to set later!
This makes my photographer heart sing! Later sunset means more time for photos during your wedding!
You can have an outdoor wedding!
If you want an outdoor wedding but not the heat of summer or the unpredictability of fall, getting married in the spring might be fore you then.
It’s perfect for black tie!
Spring is romantic and easily dressed up. This is the prefect time for a black tie wedding!
NOW THAT WE TALKED ABOUT THE PROS, LET’S EXPLORE WHY YOU MAY WANT TO GET MARRIED IN A DIFFERENT SEASON (AKA, THE CONS).
It may be rainy and/or cold.
To be honest, you’ll never know the weather for the day you’ll get married. Spring usually means more rain, and maybe cooler temps with the dreary weather.
It’s a very popular time of year to get married.
A LOT of couples get married in the spring. If you want a more unique anniversary, maybe plan your wedding in December-March.
Vendors will be booked MONTHS if not a YEAR or more in advance.
Vendors are incredibly busy in the spring months, and booking your dream vendor team may be harder during these high-demand months.
FINALLY, SOME TIPS TO MAKE YOUR SPRING WEDDING A HUGE SUCCESS!
Have a rain kit ready (clear plastic umbrellas, extra makeup, setting spray, rubber boots or flip flops, etc.)!
Have a backup option for your ceremony if it’s outdoors! Maybe a tent or a room at your venue.
Do your cocktail hour outdoors so your guests can get fresh air!
